About Sam Barnett

Sam is an 18 year old musician from London, playing the alto and tenor saxes. He also plays piano and composes. Sam released his first album, New York – London Suite, in February 2017, launched at Pizza Express Dean Street. 

 

He is sponsored by Trevor James Saxophones as their first “Emerging Artist” playing their Signature Custom Raw Alto and Tenor saxes. He has two awards from the EMI Music Sound Foundation and has trained at The Royal Academy of Music Junior Jazz with Gareth Lockrane. 

Chris Philips (Head of Music) and Nigel Williams at JazzFM have supported Sam since they discovered him busking at Victoria Station when he was 12. He has played live and been interviewed numerous times attracting a number of prestigious gigs including Love Supreme and Jazz in the Round in 2017. Now Jez Nelson is also a big supporter.

Debut album 

Currently longlisted for the UMA 18 (Unsigned Music Awards) in the Best Jazz/Blues Act, Sam's album, New York-London Suite, has had a 4 stars review HERE, and was launched at Pizza Express Soho in early 2017, was performed live at Love Supreme Festival, and is now on digital release HERE.  It has been played and reviewed on BBC's Jazz Now and BBC Introducing, Jazz FM's The Blueprint.
